Colts Battle Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, football fans. Wie gehts? Everything good I hope on this excellent early start to week 10 coming straight outta Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on German soil and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Highlights
As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an accidentally live microphone.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Classy.
First Quarter Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
Here we go! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his center to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver cannot reel in a fastball from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs Jessie Bates put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.
A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the next snap. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Mistake.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Other Tenth Week Games
Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:
(5-4) Carolina Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Bears v Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Texans v Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Dolphins v Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) New York Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the top contest of the day.
