Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over familiar failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with results this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until it is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
