The former Liverpool manager states coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club remains an option. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-year spell featuring continental glory and ending the club's long wait since 1990, now holds roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and providing guidance for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the league title in the previous campaign, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the notion that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I stated I refuse to lead a different club in England. Therefore should it be the Reds...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, so I might decide later on, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, it's not necessary. I can just see what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to bring him back to management, he confessed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing during downpours through long matches; I don’t miss going to press conferences repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits in the building. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle in my ear as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly of the current boss, praising him due to the changes which secured the championship in the previous season. The team has suffered four in a row in every contest following significant transfers, though he denied the suggestion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good balanced team. You don’t have to worry over the club, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and its impact for the team. The Portugal international was killed in a car crash with his brother this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the dressing room missing him. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. A profound tragedy for his teammates also. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it to justify results but it is the situation. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Dealing with that on a personal level is difficult. Unbearable.”
