Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the global fight fans offered its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
